"For our STEM courses, the instructors value being able to use variables to generate unique question values for each student and unique homework sets. Over time, our instructors have built up a large question bank which they can easily reuse or share with other instructors."

Homework assignments and exams

Ans has proven itself as a helpful tool for our instructors at McGill University since the start of 2022. Both for homework assignments and exams. Our instructors are able to easily divide reviewing work and provide feedback directly in Ans, reducing their administrative workload.

For our STEM courses the instructors value being able to use variables to generate unique question values for each student and unique homework sets. Over time, our instructors have built up a large question bank which they can easily reuse or share with other instructors.

Ans integrates as an external tool with our Brightspace environment through LTI. This means that users are automatically authenticated and grades can be sent back from Ans to the gradebook, which is a great timesaver for instructors.

We are now exploring possibilities to expand the use of Ans even further to, for example, a non-STEM Faculty interested in supporting their secure essay exams. We are happy with the communication and support so far provided by Ans and look forward to our partnership in the future.
